In the run-up to and opening the Night of Ideas, the Little Night offers our youngest the opportunity to develop their imagination, sharpen their creativity and express themselves through a series of interactive multimedia events and projects.
Budding Inventors
Public Workshop
Let’s get creative with the theme of this year’s Night of Ideas: ALIVE!. In this hands-on design workshop, led by Mélanie Terrade, kids will design and build their own machines, using soft circuits, e-textiles and recycled materials. This is the perfect activity for aspiring inventors to get their creative minds in gear, mixing science, technology, design and arts and crafts.
Thursday 30 January 4pm – at the Institut français, Bibliothèque Quentin Blake

From Nature to Machines
School Projects
What is our relationship to plants, animals and machines?
Several British and French schools across the UK will be inviting their pupils to examine the main topics of the Night. They will participate in the debates by using mixed media to explore the language of the natural world, our relationship to AI, and the future of food, sending special ambassadors to the Night’s panels to present their work.
Others will be designing “living” maps charting our ecological footprint and drawing new paths for a better world.
In addition, a selection of French and British primary schools in London will join schools in Brussels, Dublin, and The Hague in creating original games to reflect upon the themes of the Night, sharing their work via live video stream.
